Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) (Catedral de Koln, Koln Cathedral, Cathedral, Cologne Cathedral, Kölner Dom, Kolner Dom, Dom Cathedral, Koln Cathedral, Die Kölner Dom, Cathedral, The Cathedral,,Cathedral,Koln Cathedral,Kölner Dom, Officially Hohe Domkirche St. Peter Und Maria)
Why to visit Kölner Dom? Just because you can climb up to the top! It is awfully difficult, especially if you are not very well prepared for such a “walk” upstairs. Shortly: the highest viewpoint is more hand 100 meters above the ground. Just don’t remember the exact numbers… but you better don’t think about that :-) Somewhere in the middle of that difficult climbing there is a bells’ floor. There you can go to small and tight corridor around the bells. It is really worth to try out your claustrophobic feelings. The stairs are spiral and really tight. It is quite scary to go up against “front traffic”. Which, of course tries to keep your motivation with phrases like “oh, it is just half-way up!” and “why you are doing this?” After you finally there, you will understand all the beauty of Cologne. And, common, you will soon forget pain in your legs and will remember only impression! Ticket costs 2 or 3 euros, but it is worth that. It is just impossible to visit Cologne and not to climb up to the top of cathedral. Just do it!

Beautiful, full of nice cafes and bars. Really the best place to get a glass of Kölsch or Radler! And some Wurst, of course :-)

 Christmas Market
Koln has a handful of different Christmas markets, but my favorite by far was a medival-themed market! They had a traveling "band" with ancient instruments played by people in costumes, "medival" food and drink (including MEAD! which is amazing...so delicious! It's like honey-wine) and traditional gifts. It's a lot smaller than some of the other markets but it has a lot of heart and is very entertaining.

 Schokoladen Museum
This museum is amazing!! It takes you through the history of chocolate from it's first uses as currency in Aztec times to its use nowadays as food. And not only that but it has an amazing chocolate fountain that the assistants dip waifers in to give to the customers. The ticket into the museum is a little chocolate that you can eat as soon as you get in the door and as you travel around the museum you get to see them being made. It's a great trip for all ages!!

 Domplatte
Since I live here, I have been there very often. During the spinga nd summertime you´ll find some artist here, human statues and drawers. They paint pictures to the floor. There are also skatboarders doing they skates. The Roman Museum is just located there. It´s worth to have a look. In December you´ll find here the best Christmasmarket in town. Its really crowded on weekends, but ok during the week. You´ll get there the best German Bratwurst. Try it!! And the Dom (Kathedral) is just geourgeos!!

 Ludwig Museum
I have been living and working in Cologne the past three months. During that time I walked around to discover the city, but the place I fell in love with first became my favourite spot of all. Therefore I recommend to every Cologne-visitor who loves modern and contemporary art: The Museum Ludwig is a must-see! The Museum Ludwig is located directly next to the Dome in a cool building (very modern and chic; and flooded with light). On roughly 8000 sq. metres of exhibition space it offers the 20th century and contemporary art an adequate stage. It was inaugurated in 1986. The collection is older, though. The museum was founded in 1976, when Peter and Irene Ludwig donated about 350 works of art to the city of Cologne. Their collection included numerous paintings of the Russian Avant-garde, hundreds of works by Pablo Picasso and the largest collection of Pop Art outside the USA . Furthermore you find Expressionists and German Art from the 1970s and 80s as well as international trends and installations by the younger avant-garde. Come in and see works by Warhol, Dali, Malewitsch, Gilbert George, Mondrian, Calder, and especially of interest for us lomographers the extensive collection of photography. Today the museum owns about 10.000 photographs, from the Russian Avantgarde to contemporary works (Jeff Wall, Andreas Gursky, James Coleman, Christopher Williams etc.). There’s only one catch: It’s not allowed to take pictures inside the building due to judicial restrictions. Therefore my advice is: Enjoy the fantastic works of art inside, take your time, wander through the rooms, maybe take a guided tour (there are several free tours during the week!) and take pictures of the stunning building outside afterwards. Integrated in the building are also the Philharmonie, an Art Library and a movie theatre. The Museum Ludwig is open Tue – So from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have special prices for students.

 Hahnentor, Rudolfplatz
In 1180 the Kölner Townwall was built and was considerated one the biggest mediaeval Citywall (7,2 km) during the Holy Roman Empire. The fortification counted 12 towers. Today there are only 5 left (Hahnentor, Eigelseintorburg, Ulrepforte and Severinstorburg). It's one of the beautifullest spots in town, especially in Christmas time when there's the christmas market. The flair and the atmosphere is unique.
