The city of Rome and its historical treasures are truly awe inspiring. Tourist attractions such as The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, the Impericum Romanum and the countless museums housing great works of art and statues are on the agenda of any tourist visiting Rome on a city trip. Increasing numbers of tourists have also been diving into the past and organising a trip to Rome since the novel Angels & Demons by Dan Brown has been on the bestseller lists.

However, there is no reason to believe that Rome is only an historical destination. Rome is also famous for its state of the art and good quality fashion, Italian food and the delicious restaurants that cater to all taste buds. Italian ice cream is also reputedly the best in the world.

Nightlife in Rome can also easily compete with that in other European capital cities and the large numbers of festivals and and open-air events attract visitors as well as locals especially in the summer.

Rome has only one minor problem: the hotels in Rome leave a lot to be desired. The quality of accommodation in Rome is often abysmal and hotels are greatly overpriced. Visitors are therefore advised to seek advice before booking a hotel, hostel or a bed and breakfast in Rome.

Tourists should try not to cram too much sightseeing into a Rome city break and take some time to relax every now and again, sipping an espresso in one of the city's cafes or, if need be, plan a second trip.
