France holidays
France is not only famous for its cuisine, but also for the Tour de France, the splendid palaces, its philosophers, and of course the French Revolution. This is celebrated on "Bastille Day", which is a national holiday and is embodied in the French national anthem. After the storming of the Bastille, which marked the beginning of the French Revolution, the fortress was completely destroyed. In fact, it was virtually flattened, as though to symbolise the destruction of the old regime. Now, only the Place de la Bastille is a reminder of the former fortress. The July column is dedicated to the events of the July Revolution in 1830.
The very varied regions in France are just as exciting as French history. France has a coastline on the North Sea, English Channel, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. From the rugged beauty of Normandy to the Languedoc-Roussillon on the Mediterranean; from the Alps to the Pyrenees – the beauty of France is just as diverse as its people and culinary specialities. No wonder the French like to spend their holidays in their own country.
