Airport Frankfurt-Hahn

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport was used by the US as a military airfield until the early 90s. Since 1993, it has served civilian purposes only and, after London-Stansted Airport, is now the busiest airport used by the low cost airline Ryanair. Ryanair operates two flights a day from London Stansted to Frankfurt Hahn, with flights once a day to Bergamo and Porto, and many more cheap flights to further destinations in Europe and Africa several times a week. Despite its name, Frankfurt Hahn is actually located quite a way from the city of Frankfurt. The easiest way to reach Frankfurt Hahn airport is by shuttle bus. There is a bus transfer service from Baden Baden, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Mannheim and Ludwigshafen with the Hahn Express bus (No. 140) operated by BBK. From the main station in Mainz, the airport is served by the Rhein-Nahe Bus, and from Frankfurt (airport / railway station), Cologne and Koblenz, the airport bus is operated by Bohr Reisen. There is currently no airport transfer train service. By 2014, Hahn airport is, however, due to be connected to the nearby village Langenlonsheim via the Hunsrück Railway. Passengers arriving by car can reach the airport on the B50 taking the exit to Hahn airport. Parking facilities are to be found directly at the airport, fees vary according to the type of car park and duration. Four parking categories are available: P1 (Comfort) to P4 (low cost). From the low-cost car parks there is a free shuttle service directly to the terminal. In the Terminal (Building 500), passengers will find a wide selection of car rental companies such as Alamo, Avis, Buchbinder Rent-a-car, Europcar, Hertz and SiXT. Accommodation in Frankfurt Hahn is available at the B & B Hotel Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Hotel Schinderhannes is also in the nearby town of Sohren.
